For Studio Ochenta, 2024 marks the beginning of a new era as an audio production company. Our podcasts and audio series now merge with other spheres of the content industry, including the literary world. That includes transforming our podcasts into audiobooks.
According to the Federation of European Publishers audiobooks are on the rise, up 112% in Denmark, 177% in Italy, and even 68% in the UK in 2022 versus 2021. In 2024, audiobooks will continue to represent a growing portion of a multi-billion dollar global industry. And, yes, podcasts can be a part of that world. They should be.
So at Studio Ochenta we decided to take a step towards making it possible. After a careful process that implies reformatting, writing and adding new content, and essentially thinking of the audiobook user experience as the #1 factor in our production, our podcasts now reach new audiences in a brand new audiobook outfit. Each audiobook includes original content from the podcasts themselves, plus extra juicy new chapters that will make every listener dive deep into the stories behind each production, never-heard-before extra fiction stories, and thoughtful essays related to the themes that surround each specific show.
